If you were in Vancouver this past weekend, you’ll be kicking yourself if you didn’t attend the 2014 Vancouver Luxury and Supercar show. Tickets to this event are much cheaper ($50!) than the legendary Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which charges up to $300 for a single day. Many of the supercars from Pebble Beach in fact made it up to Canada for this show. It seems appropriate, as Vancouver is said to have more luxury car owners per capita than any other markets in North America. Keep this in mind if you ever intend on taking an auto mechanic apprenticeship! We can see good reasons for this, with lots of winding mountain roads and wilderness near Vancouver to explore with a super-fast souped-up car. Vancouver is also a hot vacation and retirement spot—one of the most expensive in North America.
Over 8,000 guests, likely including many students and grads from auto mechanic schools, attended the 2-day event that took place at the VanDusen Botanical Gardens. Among the cars featured were Lamborghini, Bugatti, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, Lincoln, Bentley, Aston-Martin and BMW. A special guest appearance came from the rare $2.5 million 720hp Pagani Huayra, a car featured on Top Gear and the fastest vehicle to go around their track.
Some incredible supercars in attendance include:
2014 Rolls-Royce Ghost Majestic Horse Edition
As the name implies, the Ghost Majestic Horse takes style inspiration from the Chinese zodiac and interpretations of the horse in traditional Chinese art. Wood interiors compliment the Chinese horse zodiac and the vehicle boasts 563 horsepower and torque which propels the vehicle from 0 to 60 in just over four seconds.
2015 BMW i8
If you’re into automotive painting, this is the car to look at. This BMW i8 is being called the ultimate electric luxury car. It has smooth exterior design, scissor doors, and a black and white futuristic interior. The 1.5 litre turbocharged engine produces 228 horsepower. The electric power comes from a BMW-made electric engine with 129 horsepower, making the total output 360hp.
Bentley Continental GT Speed
The Continental GT Speed is to date the fastest Bentley ever produced. With all-wheel drive transmission, lowered sports suspension, and the ultimate interior, this Bentley is designed to ensure your total comfort during long rides. The top speed of this vehicle is 206mph and the interior hosts an “infotainment” system with a 30GB hard drive for music, mapping data and more.
Vintage Cars
The Luxury and Supercar Show is not only about the newest hottest thing—it’s also a place to show off vintage beauties. Top attention the vintage section went to a 1957 Maserati, of which only twenty-eight were sold. A Bugatti type 57 also made its way to Vancouver, and is in fact the only drop head coupe body made in Switzerland. Winner of the 2014 Ridler Award, a 1964 Rivision Buick Riviera was also in attendance in Vancouver.
This classy car really caught our eye, so here is a promo video for the 2014 Rolls-Royce Ghost Majestic Horse Edition from the Bangkok International Motor Show:
