While not quite mentioned among the ranks of the biggest and best automotive shows in the world, the Vancouver International Auto Show serves up some great unveils, absurdly entertaining events and a whole host of other auto-related awesomeness every year. The third largest automotive show in Canada, it’s still a big force to be reckoned with, even if it doesn’t draw the attention that shows in Toronto and Detroit do. These are just some of the great things that have graced the floor in the 2014 iteration of the Vancouver International Auto Show so far. You still have until Sunday to go revel in the mystique of shiny new concept cars, though, so tell your auto technician!

2014 McLaren 650S

This marks the North American debut of the exceptionally sleek and mind-bogglingly fast McLaren 650S supercar. Just some of the wild features on this beast are a turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 that gives out 641 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. This absolute monster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, and can reach a startling top speed of 333 km/h.

It can adjust to either normal or track mode depending on the needs of the driver, and though it features scissor-style doors and racing seats, it’s heralded as exceptionally comfortable. It’s expected to be priced slightly above $250,000, though, so you may want to start saving now!

2015 Volkswagen Golf

Volkswagen junkies can rejoice, as the beautifully redesigned VW Golf is hitting the showrooms this spring, and it’s not only lighter and safer but roomier as well! As if that wasn’t enough, there’s been about $1,000 cut from the MSRP, leaving it with a base price of a startlingly cheap $18,995.

Included is a futuristic “infotainment system” as well as a bi-xenon headlights, automatically dimming high-beams and a sliding glass sunroof.

2015 Nissan Micra

The new 2015 Micra has the distinction of being the least expensive car you can buy in Canada right now. Not available in the U.S., the 2015 Nissan Micra has been specifically tailored to the Canadian climate, featuring heated outside mirrors, sleek automotive painting, and 16 inch tires that are available as snow tires. The four-door hatchback packs 109 horsepower, a 1.6L four-cylinder engine and a standard five-speed manual transmission, or if you can’t drive a stick, a four-speed automatic transmission. Oh, did we mention it’s only $9,998?

For those looking for an extremely cost effective vehicle to tote around the kids in would do well to look into the Micra! Check out this video for a closer look!
