While full details are not yet clear, the biggest-selling vehicle in Ford’s repertoire has its anticipated arrival on the market reportedly slated for the end of 2020, and is one that comes with features and specs that are largely new or improved upon from previous models.

The newest generation of the Ford F-150 comes equipped with many new features, including three choices of cab configurations and six powertrains options. Notably, one of the powertrains offered in the new F-150 is a hybrid — a first for the legendary auto manufacturer.
Drivers can also expect to see a range of bed length options, as well as:
- Increased storage capacity
- A foldable console that can be converted into a work surface
- Front air dams which retract at around 64 km/h

- Automatically-closing grille shutters
- Optional fold-flat front seats and onboard generators
- A bed with power-operated running boards
Oh, and there’s a range of 13 wheel designs and 11 grilles to choose from.
The 2021 F-150’s infotainment system isn’t bad, either, as drivers are expected to have access to a standard eight-inch display (with a 12-inch also available), as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
How the 2021 Ford F-150 is Built on the Inside
One of the biggest standouts of the Ford F-150 is in its performance. Those with auto careers will be pleased to hear that the 2021 F-150’s engine options are impressive, and include a 3.0-L diesel V6, a 5.0-L V8, and a twin-turbo 3.5-L V6.
The aforementioned hybrid powertrain is another option for drivers, especially as it offers a driving range per tank of up to around 1,126 km. Although its fuel efficiency numbers are not yet known, it boasts a 35-kilowatt electric motor and a 3.5-L twin-turbocharged V6 engine.
Each option comes alongside a 10-speed automatic transmission, as well as a choice between four-wheel and rear-wheel drive. Of course, there’s also the best-in-class towing capacity we expect from an F-150.
What Can Those with Auto Careers Expect from the F-150 Going Forward?
Although exact details about the new Ford F-150 remain unclear, students in auto mechanic school might be intrigued to learn that this is not all that Ford has planned with regards to their standard F-150 truck for 2021.
In fact, the automaker plans on offering other variants as well. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is also on the agenda, although Ford has yet to release official details about this bigger, more off-road-friendly model.
Additionally, Ford plans on releasing a fully-electric, zero-emission variant of the F-150 in the future, in keeping with the automaker’s continued dedication and investment in EV development.
