What Everyone in Auto Sales School Should Know About the 2022 Kia Sedona

A career in auto sales can be a lucrative, rewarding path. You get to engage with a variety of clients, take pride in fulfilling customer needs, and master your selling techniques. What’s more, one of the great perks of this career is getting a first-hand look at exciting new car models.

Whether you end up working as a sales consultant or dealership manager, it’s important to stay up to date on the newest cars that will be hitting the market. One vehicle you should be on the lookout for is the long-awaited new generation to the Kia Sedona. This upgrade to the popular minivan is expected to hit North American markets in 2021 as a 2022 model. Read on to learn about what we know so far.

What Those in Auto Careers Should Know About the Sedona Line

Referred to as the “Carnival” in the brand’s home country, the Sedona was Kia’s first attempt to enter the minivan market. The 2022 model will be a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the first Sedona, released in 2002. It will also be the first in a new generation for this line of vehicles, replacing the third-generation that first hit markets in 2015.

With the 2022 Sedona, Kia wants to stick out rather than blend in

With previous generations, Kia was more concerned with fitting into the traditional legacy of minivans. However, the details they have released about the fourth generation Sedona suggests the Korean automaker is now interested in developing a more unique vehicle and creating something new.

In fact, Kia don’t even call the 2022 Sedona a minivan, opting instead to name it a “Grand Utility Vehicle” or GUV. Though it still bears the traditional markers of a minivan, certain modifications suggest the designers are attempting to build a new class of vehicles.

How the 2022 Model Improves on Its Predecessors

With the fourth-generation Sedona, Kia has significantly and radically upgraded previous Sedona designs. Gone is the van’s established square-jaw styling in favour of a more unique approach that clearly takes inspiration from SUV models.

This unusual and innovative design is sure to intrigue professionals in auto careers. The Sedona looks like a cross between an SUV and a minivan while keeping the roominess and space of the latter.  And though Kia is attempting to break from the minivan label, the 2022 Sedona will actually be larger than previous models.

A longer wheelbase and total length generously offers more interior space compared to older models. A larger tailgate is also present, designed to make loading cargo easier. A longer hood and a chrome-plated C-pillar contribute to the sleek, high-end feel of the vehicle. Certain specifications aren’t released yet, but it’s assumed that Kia will continue to fit the Sedona with front-wheel drive and a V-6 engine.

Updated with a Modern, Technologically-Rich Design

The 2022 Sedona hasn’t just changed on the outside. The generational leap also means a set of upgrades being made to the inner components. The in-car technology, in particular, has been updated for the modern age. By viewing the early design photos released by Kia, car enthusiasts in or out of auto sales school can see a rich, progressive dashboard.

The 2022 Sedona will be fitted with upgraded technological features

The centrepiece is a large 12.3-inch dual-display infotainment system. Onboard Wi-Fi is also likely to be a standard feature, and the vehicle is expected to be compatible with applications like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Android’s Alexa.
