How Auto Mechanic Student Niharika Limaye is Working Towards Career Success
For some, a passion for cars begins with the thrill of driving. For others, like Niharika Limaye, it’s about understanding every intricate detail of what makes a car function. A student at ATC Cambridge’s auto mechanic school, Niharika has embraced her love for cars and is transforming it into a promising career.
At just 26 years old, Niharika’s journey has been resilient, curious, and ambitious. From overcoming personal setbacks to mastering the hands-on skills required in the automotive industry, she’s a shining example of what determination can achieve.
Discovering a New Path
After initially pursuing photography, the pandemic turned Niharika’s life in a new direction. “When COVID hit, I kind of went into depression,” she admitted. “I got my way out of it and thought, ‘What do I like next?’ That’s when I realized I love cars, I love working on cars, I used to help my dad with oil changes and everything, but I wanted to learn for myself too.”
That realization led her to explore different programs before ultimately choosing ATC Cambridge. “This one really caught my eye because it’s fast track… and you can learn a lot.” she explains “I saw the pictures of this place, where there was alignment, oil change places, and so many different things.” Niharika knew this was the auto mechanic training program for her.
Hands-on Learning and Support in Our Auto Mechanic School
For Niharika, the practical nature of the program has been a highlight. “I love doing alignments. It’s so much fun!” she shared. But it’s not just about the tasks themselves—it’s also about the guidance she’s received along the way.
“My instructor is Rick, and he is very helpful,” she says. Niharika appreciates his teaching style, which balances guidance with the encouragement to learn independently. For tasks like an oil change, she starts by conducting her research. If she encounters difficulties, Rick steps in with helpful hints, steering her toward the solution without giving it away directly.
This approach helps her learn new skills and builds her confidence in solving real-world problems. Through Rick’s mentorship, she gains valuable experience tackling challenges and figuring out solutions independently.
Big Dreams for the Future
While Niharika is enjoying her time at our auto mechanic school, she has her sights set on a bigger goal. “To be honest, I want to start my own shop,” she said. “I want to get more experience—maybe three or four years—and get my licence. That’s my dream.”
Her enthusiasm for the industry and commitment to learning leaves little doubt that she’ll achieve her goals. She describes her experience as highly educational and enjoyable, highlighting how much she has learned while having fun.
