Why Grads of Auto Mechanic Courses Are Discussing Electric Vehicles After the Beijing Auto Show
The Beijing Auto Show in TianZhu is one of the largest and most diverse global auto shows in 2018, featuring exhibitions from 14 different countries. Popular auto manufacturers, like BMW, Mercedes, and even GM have come to show off their new concept cars, which include more than a few EVs.
It’s no wonder why mechanics and auto enthusiasts are taking a closer look at EVs, with companies like Volkswagen planning to develop scores of them in Beijing in six separate factories by the year 2021. Below are some of the exciting and lavish concept EVs that were on display at the auto show, as well as a sneak peek at their surprising performance specs.
BYD Auto’s Concept EV, the E-SEED, Has Specs That Impress
While many might think that Tesla rules the world of EVs, that’s actually not exactly the case. In fact, the Chinese automaker BYD might be the largest manufacturer of EVs in the world. And, as a leader in EVs, BYD’s concept caught the attention of many at the Beijing Auto Show.
BYD’s 4-wheel drive Electronic Sports Experience Environmental Device (E-SEED) EV SUV looks like something straight out of the pages of a science fiction novel with its “dual blade” design, two exhaust pipes, and futuristic grey colour tones.
While not much information is available as to the specifics of the EV’s purely electric powertrain, the vehicle is said to have a range of up to 600 kilometers. The E-SEED can also accelerate from a dead stop to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. That’s actually a faster 0-100 km/h time than the gas-powered BMW M2 Competition (4.2 seconds), which was also unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show. The downside is that the E-SEED is only available in China for now. However, it’s a good indication of the kind of tech that future mechanics could soon see.

The New Buick Enspire Concept EV SUV Will Stun Grads of Auto Mechanic Courses
As students in auto mechanic courses may notice, the Enspire marks a few big changes from Buick’s more common vehicle designs. For instance, the Enspire has a much more modern-looking exterior, and the interior boasts some pretty impressive futuristic tech like augmented reality and an organic electroluminescent diode screen.
The Enspire’s eMotion motor boasts up to 550 HP, and can take this EV SUV from 0 to 100km/h in just 4 seconds. The Enspire’s battery, which takes no more than 40 minutes to get back up to an 80 per cent charge, can allow for a not-too-shabby 595km range.
The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Has a Lot of Power for an EV
The Vision Mecerdes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury will keep mechanics talking about EVs for months to come, with its unique design and incredible power. Its design offers a creative fusion of SUV and limousine elements, and has been designed partly for clients who enjoy being driven around.

These new concept EVs are just the tip of the iceberg in China’s ever-expanding EV market. With so much investment in EV manufacturing in China, these cars could very well become even more popular in the country and all over the world.
