In Hybrid and Electrical Mechanic Training? Have a Look at the 2023 Lexus RZ

Interested in hybrid and electric vehicle technology? Do you enjoy the current EV movement that’s taking shape across the auto industry? Then you’re in for a treat with the all-new electric 2023 Lexus RZ. That’s right, Lexus has finally crossed the full electrification line to present its first-ever fully electric SUV, which shares a similarity to its parent company’s Toyota bZ4X. The RZ has a pretty distinct look to it though when you stare at it with the headlights on. With your automotive hybrid technology training on one hand and the electrification of vehicles like the RZ on another, your future as an aspiring auto mechanic looks bright.

Let’s look at what the Lexus RZ has to offer!

A Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Mechanic Should Know the Performance, Power and Range

For an aspiring auto mechanic and an electric vehicle enthusiast, you’ll be interested to know that the Lexus RZ offers an all-electric powertrain dubbed the “Direct4”, that’s been created exclusively for the Lexus hybrid and electric vehicle lines. It’s an AWD system, composed of a dual-motor with a battery pack that utilizes Lexus’ BEV platform (e-TNGA). Direct4 controls the front and rear wheels according to the driving and road conditions.

As a hybrid and electric vehicle mechanic, you’ll be disappointed to know that Lexus hasn’t confirmed the horsepower as of yet, but assumptions are leaning towards that of the 2023 Toyota bZ4X. The RZ comes with a steer-by-wire system that uses electrically controlled motors, eliminating the use of a physical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels. According to Lexus, the battery would be capable of delivering over 362 km of range.

A Human-Centric Infotainment and Connectivity

The 2023 Lexus RZ is human-centred and designed for the optimal driving experience. It comes with a large 14.0-inch touchscreen that takes over the car’s dashboard. As someone who’s in hybrid and electrical mechanic training, you’ll be curious to know about Lexus’ infotainment system. It embodies the Japanese Tazuna Concept, which encourages driver awareness on the road by reducing distractions. The driver can use touch and voice commands to activate the features they want with minimal effort. The infotainment system also comes with a head-up display and a digital gauge display. The RZ offers the standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features that you’ll find in most vehicles these days, with wireless connectivity and on-the-air updates as well.

Luxurious Interior With Added Space

Lexus decided to marry simplicity and luxury when it designed the 2023 Lexus RZ. Thanks to the Tazuna concept, the RZ has eliminated the need for many switches and buttons that could be a distraction while driving. Lexus shifted all those buttons and switches to the RZ’s 14.0-inch infotainment screen, allowing for ease of access from one place. This gives the RZ cabin a simple yet luxurious and spacious feel from the inside. Most of the RZ’s interior is wrapped with synthetic leather or faux suede for a modern aesthetic that’s hard to stain and easy to clean.
