The Value of Multimedia Learning With Auto Mechanic Student Daniel Endresza
At the Automotive Training Centre (ATC) Cambridge campus, learning takes many forms, from hands-on auto mechanic shop work to interactive digital tools.
In today’s spotlight, we sit down with Daniel Endresza, a current auto mechanic training student, to explore his unique journey and the importance of multimedia learning in shaping the next generation of automotive professionals.
A Lifelong Connection to The Automotive World
Daniel’s connection to the automotive world began years before he enrolled at ATC. “Twenty years ago, my father, who was a mechanic in Germany, tried to entice me to come to this school,” he recalls. Despite excelling in his entry exams, financial hurdles kept him from pursuing the path he’s now on. Fast forward two decades, and with the support of government funding through the Second Career initiative, Daniel is finally fulfilling a dream—both his own and his father’s.
His early memories of learning were unconventional but invaluable. “A lot of the training I had initially was holding the flashlight for my dad as a kid,” Daniel shares with a smile. The lessons absorbed during those moments are coming full circle as he refines his skills at ATC.
Multimedia Learning: A Key to Success in Auto Mechanic Training
What sets ATC’s auto mechanic training apart is its innovative approach to learning. Daniel highlights the variety of ways the program delivers the information, from YouTube videos and software like Electude to immersive hands-on experiences. “There are so many different ways that they throw things at you,” Daniel says, emphasizing that the diverse learning methods have been instrumental in his success.
Daniel’s favorite method? Hands-on training. “This is one of my favourite ways of learning,” he notes. Combining theory and practice in auto mechanics enables students like Daniel to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations. This dynamic approach keeps students engaged and ensures they’re equipped for the fast-evolving automotive industry.

The Importance of Getting Hands-On
Daniel’s story shows that learning by doing is more than just an educational strategy—it’s a necessity in the world of auto mechanics. “As a kid, holding a light, I hated to get my hands dirty,” Daniel admits. But now? He’s all in. “When the three hours of shop is up, I still want to be here.”
For students like Daniel, with diverse career backgrounds, the program’s hands-on approach provides a purpose, focusing on diagnostics, tuning, and specialized skills beyond just car repair.“Diagnostics, tuning—perhaps in the Euro world,” Daniel mentions when asked about his dream job, reflecting a deep-seated passion for vehicles like Audis and Volkswagens.
Learning From Experience: The Role of Instructors
Another key component of ATC’s training is the knowledge that instructors bring to the table. Daniel appreciates that the teachers don’t just impart information; they push students to learn independently while always being available when help is needed. “They push you to teach yourself, but when you get stuck, they help,” Daniel says.
He describes a playful but deeply educational rapport with his instructor, Rick, where their mutual love for European cars fuels ongoing learning. “I’ll get him with a Euro question, and he’ll throw back a motorsport or hot-rodding question at me,” Daniel laughs, showing how the learning environment fosters camaraderie and professional growth.

A Bright Future Ahead
For Daniel, this journey is more than completing a program; it’s about fulfilling a lifelong dream and gaining skills for a career in the automotive industry. His time at ATC has reignited his passion, and multimedia learning is key to his growth.
Whether starting fresh or changing careers, ATC’s auto mechanic program provides the tools for success. Daniel’s story shows that with dedication, passion, and the right education, the possibilities are endless.
