The Trans-Canada Highway: Canadian Routes Don’t Get More Iconic Than This
Admittedly, this may be considered cheating, as the Trans-Canada highway is more of a network of routes as opposed to a single one. However, we’d still be remiss to not mention it as being among the best in the country, and one that all Canadian automotive service technicians should take at least once in their lifetimes.
Making up a whopping 7,800 km from Victoria to St. John’s, it stands as the longest highway on the planet, and shows you firsthand the contrasts and respective highlights of both coasts. Furthermore, it offers drivers the opportunity to explore some of Canada’s most beautiful and well-known cities, towns, and landmarks, including Ottawa, Banff, Gros Morne National Park, and the Bay of Fundy.
The Icefields Parkway Also Gives Those with Auto Careers a Fantastic Journey
Alberta is known for having plenty of gorgeous, breathtaking mountains and views, and driving along the Icefields Parkway will allow you to experience much of them. Mountains, meadows, turquoise-coloured lakes, swaths of ice, and waterfalls – each of these are among the route’s most distinctive and beautiful features.
Running about 232 km between Banff and Jasper, the route has been ranked among the best road trips in the world, and provides plenty of opportunity for hikes and tours along the way. You can even see glaciers during the summer months at Lake Louise or the Athabasca Glacier.
Nova Scotia’s Cabot Trail Is a Must-Do for Drivers in the Maritimes
The coast of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia is worth visiting in any way you can, but especially if you get the opportunity to drive along it. One of the most well-known road trip routes in Canada for a reason, the Cabot Trail only requires about three to four hours in total to complete.
Even still, with a length of 300 km, there’s plenty of road for those interested in auto careers to enjoy, and some picturesque views of cliffs, beaches, and the ocean to take in along the way.
Driving along the trail leads you through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, as well as the Margaree River, Bras d’Or Lake, and the Skyline Trail. Not only does the route allow you to explore this gorgeous part of Canada’s east coast in detail, but it offers opportunities for fishing, hiking, and golfing as well.
