What Automotive School Students Should Know About The 2023 Fisker Ocean

As an automotive student, it is important to remain aware of new vehicles launching. The EV industry is developing quickly, and OEM manufacturers are trying to secure their market share while new manufacturers are releasing new EVs and trying to enter the market. One such new EV is the 2023 Fisker Ocean. This EV is set to join the SUV market and outmatch several of its competitors. Continue reading to discover what makes it impressive and how it interlinks with what you will learn as an EV and hybrid mechanic.

The Power Capabilities Are Admirable for an Electric SUV

The 2023 Fisker Ocean has three options, the entry level, the ultra-level, and the extreme level. The entry-level model is powered by a single electric motor which produces 275 horsepower. The ultra-level model utilizes a dual-motor system capable of producing 540 horsepower. Lastly, the extreme-level model produces 550 horsepower using the same dual-motor system available in the ultra model. This extra 10 horsepower is gained through the performance settings available. The 550 horsepower also makes the Fisker Ocean extreme model capable of reaching 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, which is impressive for an EV that is expected to weigh approximately 2,100 kg.

During hybrid and electrical mechanic training, you will understand that these power figures are impressive, and you will work on electric motor systems like the one in the 2023 Fisker Ocean. Your training will not only be classroom-based, but you will also have practical examples where you will apply the skills you’ve acquired. This will help prepare you for servicing and repairing different EVs. Included in this preparation is training on batteries and EV charging.

The 2023 Fisker Ocean will be fascinating to automotive school students.

Automotive School Students Can Study Its Impressive Range

The 2023 Fisker Ocean does not only separate its power capabilities by the level system but also its range capabilities. Starting at the entry-level model again, the range capabilities of this EV are estimated at 400 km. This is due to the lithium-iron-phosphate battery that is used in this model. The ultra- and extreme-level models utilize nickel, manganese, and cobalt-oxide batteries to increase their range capabilities significantly. The ultra-level model is capable of a range of 544 km, while the extreme-level model is capable of 560 km through some revised software.

As a hybrid and electric vehicle mechanic trainee, you will learn about the different battery types available in the 2023 Fisker Ocean and other battery types utilized in EVs by different manufacturers. When it comes time to service EVs, you will learn to safely and effectively maintain EV battery systems. You will also learn about EV chargers–how they work, the different types, and how to maintain and fix them.

During hybrid and electric vehicle training, you will replace EV batteries.

The Interior is Spacious, With a Large Infotainment System

The 2023 Fisker Ocean doesn’t only perform well, but it is also very comfortable and has an excellent infotainment system. The interior is spacious and has a minimalist finish made from recycled materials. The noises from the road and vehicle are drowned out, providing a pleasurable driving experience. What is particularly interesting is the 17.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display that the Ocean has in the centre console. This touchscreen can rotate to either portrait or landscape mode and is one of the largest infotainment screens ever placed in a vehicle.

As someone in hybrid and electrical mechanic training, you will learn about the complex wiring and designs of these infotainment and wiring systems. The wiring on an EV is more complex than that of a regular petrol-driven vehicle due to the battery power needed to operate all of the vehicle’s systems. This means that there is wiring running all over an EV. During your training, you will learn to work with the wiring systems. This will help ensure they are repaired safely and can be reattached where needed.
