In Conversation With Mason Fonseca: Why Licensing Matters in Auto Careers
Many individuals’ passion for cars begins at an early age. For Mason Fonseca, this love started when he was six. Inspired by the roar of engines and the sleek curves of cars on the big screen, Mason set his sights on a future in auto careers.
Today, he’s a student at ATC Toronto, honing his skills and pursuing the licensing needed to excel in one of the most rewarding auto careers. We sat down with Mason to talk about his journey, his experiences at the automotive school, and why licensing plays such a crucial role in achieving his dreams.
A Passion for Cars, Sparked Early
Mason’s love for cars traces back to his childhood, fueled by iconic scenes from the Fast and Furious franchise. “It was definitely the very first Fast and Furious movie with the orange Supra Paul Walker drove,” Mason shared. “It made a lot of memories for me, and since then, I’ve wanted to know everything about cars and work on them.”
This passion carried over into Mason’s teenage years when he began gaining hands-on experience through a co-op program in high school. His early exposure to the automotive world provided valuable insights, but Mason quickly realized that experience alone wasn’t enough—licensing was essential to advancing his career. Mason explained that he knew he needed to return to school to get licensed, so he decided to enroll at ATC Toronto.
Hands-on Learning at our Automotive School
With years of experience already under his belt, Mason arrived at ATC Toronto eager to deepen his knowledge. He quickly found that the school’s blend of practical and theoretical training was exactly what he needed to take his skills to the next level.
“What I really love is that I’m always learning something new,” Mason said. “I’m always doing something.” He added that for someone like him, who doesn’t like sitting around, it’s the perfect environment.
Mason also highlighted the importance of the instructors at our automotive school. With extensive experience in the industry, they bring a wealth of knowledge to the classroom. “The instructors here, they’re amazing,” he said. “They’re really good because they teach you things you don’t know, but other than that, they care about your well-being in general. So that’s really good.”
Why Licensing Matters in Auto Careers
As someone who’s worked in the automotive field, Mason understands the importance of licensing for anyone pursuing auto careers. “Even with the experience I have, I’m still learning a lot,” Mason said.
Apart from providing the necessary qualifications to work in the automotive industry, Mason is savvy enough to understand that licensing is what prepares you to excel in this industry. It’s not just about knowing how to fix a car but understanding the standards and techniques that keep you competitive.
